Custom Feeding
Are you ready to see what your cattle can do beyond the paddock?
At BOS, custom feeding is more than a pen and a ration. Our owner-operated, NFAS-accredited feedlot is supported by on-farm fodder production, grain and commodity storage, backgrounding country and a favourable microclimate. Since opening in 2019, we have not recorded a heat-load event across any breed or feeding program.
We match programs to cattle type, starting weight, market specification and realistic days on feed, with drafting where it may improve uniformity or market fit. We monitor health, consumption and performance—and communicate what we see.
We feed our own cattle here too. There is little point doing it unless it is done properly. That is the standard we set for ourselves, and we work best with clients who share it.

Backgrounding
Do you know which cattle are worth taking all the way?
Backgrounding is not simply about putting on cheaper kilograms. It allows cattle to acclimatise, reach feeder weight and show us how they perform against their peers.
We use regenerative grazing, Optiweigh data, check weights and preconditioning pens to progressively assess cattle and transition them onto bunk feed. Not every animal progresses—and that is deliberate. Non-performers are identified before they become a grain-fed money pit, while cattle that make the grade move forward with more evidence behind the decision.

From time to time, Greystonlea's grazing platform may also suit cattle that simply need country rather than a more structured production program.
Availability will depend on seasonal conditions, pasture capacity and what else is running across the property.
FLEXIBILITY
Sometimes the answer isn't simply background them or put them on feed.
One of the advantages of Greystonlea is the ability to use grazing, backgrounding and grain finishing as complementary parts of the same operation. Cattle can be prepared, grown and finished without every mob having to follow exactly the same pathway.
That flexibility is useful when seasons change, markets move or cattle arrive needing something slightly different from what was originally planned.
